If you are under age 65 and have been diagnosed with young-onset Alzheimer's disease or other dementias you may be facing unique challenges in addition to the challenges of adjusting to life with dementia. People with young-onset Alzheimer's disease are often trying to remain at work as long as possible or obtain disability to provide for their families.
They may also be coping with family and friends not believing the diagnosis, or grieving the loss of independence at a relatively young age. The Young-Onset Group meets monthly in Plano for education and mutual support.
